Two for two in my initial choices on games to put into this group. I tried to learn Bridge a several years ago and just didn't have enough opportunity to learn it. So I didn't. I love trick taking games. I grew up in one of those parts of the country (Northeastern Wisconsin) where I'm sure there were Bridge players, but pretty much everyone played Sheepshead so that is what I learned along with 500 to a lesser extent. Someday I'll give it a proper go.
Economist Arnold Kling says that Bridge (and other hobbies) have gotten "Narrower, Older and Deeper." See https://arnoldkling.substack.com/p/narrower-deeper-older
Small correction, I think you meant ever instead of never.
"But not many people who showed up the first week of Bridge Club in college never returned."
